What I Did During the Inauguration

Posted by Chuck Grantham on January 20, 2009

I watched the Australian killer croc film Rogue, which is a good us against Mother Nature’s pet film, deservedly R rated for language and some graphic wounds. The acting is quite good, with John Jarrett, previously seen as the killer in Wolf Creek totally different as an accountant this time around.

If it makes you feel better about my political involvement, I did think of  the film as an allegory a bit:

1. The tourist boat full of people are the American public.

2. The killer croc is the American political parties.

3. The island is the American economy.

4. The rising tide is the American national debt.

Based on the film, we have some very rough times ahead.

  1. Killer croc flick, huh? Was it as good as Lake Placid or Primeval?

  2. Nick: “Lake Placid” was played for comedy, and the croc was a bit overblown for effect. Definitely a good dark comedy.

I haven’t seen “Primeval” (movie or tv show) so I can only report what reviews I’ve read of the movie, which make Rogue sound far better. The guy who did the second unit nature photography for “Rogue” should be doing nature documentaries full-time. Great shots.

  3. I just watched Rogue. It was alright. Not really what I expected. I found myself annoyed at his risking his life for that stupid dog.
