Have to Have the Freshest Blogging Available? Try AlphaInventions
Posted by Chuck Grantham on November 19, 2008
So like a lot of bloggers, I’ve been noticing that funny name AlphaInventions in my WordPress stats. Since it was bringing in traffic I had to see what it was about.
Basically, AlphaInventions is a web page that acts as a sort of live blog ticker, like the news ticker on the 24/7 news channels or the rolling game scores on weekend sports. Every time someone writes a new post or updates an old one that is visible to the various pinging services, AlphaInventions loads the main page for people to see, together with the link so those who like what they see can visit that blog for a closer examination. Look quick, though, or that blog will be gone, replaced by another blog some seconds fresher. Or else use the “Pause” and examine a blog that interests you at your leisure. How many blogs you’ll have to catch up with then is a good question, as AlphaInventions seems growing by leaps and bounds through the sheer power of fascination with the instantaneous.
AlphaInventions is an innovative idea the creator says took him three months to get working properly. He hopes to eventually focus the tickers more to specific tags or classifications of blogs, which is the logical next step and would improve the utility of the site immensely.
My blog is, frankly, rather the opposite of AlphaInventions, as Goulablogger is strongly aimed at being a resource for bible studies. And no small amount of my traffic is to my older pages. Indeed, I’m sure many people question whether Goulablogger really qualifies as a blog at all, in style and content. The great thing about the massive size of the Internet is that there is room for all sorts of web pages.
I used the term “fascination” and the comparison to CNN in regard to Alphainventions because that page reminds of my college days when CNN first premiered and guys would sit in front of the dorm TV watching CNN cycle through, all hours of the night. There is this strange fascination with having “the news” as it is happening, and AlphaInventions taps into that. More power to it. Especially if it brings in new readers to my own and others’ blogs.
I’m adding AlphaInventions to my Resource Links. Sometimes I like to sit fascinated as well.

Thanks for the comment. AlphaInventions is great for sheer numbers, but not so hot in generating comments. Or has not been for me so far.
