Five Websites I’ve Never Read and Never Will (Or Five Websites I kinda sorta perhaps find mildly distasteful, if my language isn’t too strong)

Posted by Chuck Grantham on June 2, 2008

1. Arminian Perspectives: Say it with me: Because I was predestined from all eternity not to.

2.Catholic Answers Forums: Because there are too many Reformed Protestants over there, now. Come on, guys, leave some bandwidth for actual Catholics!

3. Walmart Facts: Because I’ve heard that stuff at work all day for almost 21 years. Can’t a guy get away for even a little while?

4. Any blog entitled Doctor Who Sucks or Youtube entry entitled Doctor Who Sucks: Because the only people who even have an opinion are us hopeless geeks fans anyway, and for us eternal nerds fans the only truly bad Doctor Who is NO Doctor Who. Okay, and most Doctor Who shows with “Time” in the title. And most Colin Baker… And… Well, you get my drift.

5. MoveOn.org: Because my politics are slightly right of Attila the Hun, and my response to those folk would be, to quote my former department chair at USM, “Kill ‘em all and let God sort ‘em out”.

I tag nobody, and if you do this meme you’re pretty hard up for short easy posts, too.

  1. Arminians Perspectives is good. You should read it at least once.

  2. I did read Arminian Perspectives. How do you think I got the link?

Truth be told, I think both my pastors are Arminian, the older associate, and the young (er than me!) senior. The SBC Calvinist revolution must have missed him somehow.

Catholic Answers Forum — a must read. It fulfills my daily need for humor — and that’s just the way people spell over there.

  4. Chuck,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I am a little confused by this though:

You: Five websites I’ve never read and never will

Nick: Arminians Perspectives is good. You should read it at least once.

You: I did read Arminian Perspectives. How do you think I got the link?

Must be nice to be a Calvinist and never have to worry about things making sense :)

    God Bless,
    Ben

  5. Iyov: Maybe the RCC forbids spell checkers?

Ben: Anyone can make sense, though. Isn’t that the classic exclamation of the new Calvinist: “It all makes sense!”? OTOH, does that mean Arminians never make sense?

Actually, the only theological position I’ve seen that doesn’t make sense is “I’m a Bible Christian.” Yeah, like the Calvininsts, Arminians, and the thirty-seven other positions DON’T derive their position from the Bible?

  6. Chuck,

Fair enough. Thanks for adding me to your blogroll even if you will never read anything on my site. BTW, I assumed you were Calvinist in your soteriology but I apologize if that was a wrong assumption. Feel free to not stop by anytime :)

    God Bless,
    Ben

  7. Aww, the orange is gone :( I’ll probably still read your blog though.

  8. Ben: Assume I’m Southern Baptist in my soteriology: confused.
As for adding your site to the blogroll, I figured it would make my distant relative Thomas Grantham happy.

Nathan: Orange is back again. I was getting tired of it and wanted a change. And you know you’re going to read at least my short posts, unless the color goes bright pink…..

  9. I can handle pink or orange… I think this is quickly becoming one of my favorite themes actually. I don’t think I could use it myself because the width isn’t fixed and I’d rather retain that sort of control.

  10. Nathan: I cannot handle pink, and the non-striped versions of all the colors bug me. As for the issue of control, as Roger Mugs says, you don’t use WordPress if you’re a real control freak. It’s much too pre-formatted.

I use WordPress because it’s cheap and easy. In other words, because I am lazy.
